I have been able to help my dancers become more experienced
dancers and choreographers as they have been on my team. They have been able to
continue dancing and performing through college. We have worked on performance
skills and dance technique skills. I
have also given my dancers several choreography challenges. Waukeenyan members
have been able to choreograph their own timeouts and work together to create
halftime dances. This has helped them to grow as artists and not just as
dancers. As a team we have done service projects such as participating in the
angel tree. This was a great opportunity for each dancer to really appreciate
the feeling of service. As a leader I
have helped team members with school work if it was needed. All of my dancers
have been able to keep up on their homework and get good grades. After three
years of working on this project we have gone from being a club, to being a
part of college athletics. I have grown as a leader by making mistakes and
learning from them. Each year the team continues to develop and improve. I will
be able to use all of these real life experiences to help me be the teacher and
coach I hope to be some day.
